SPRING BIG GAME 2022 - LAST TRAIN FROM LEOMINSTER (PART ONE)

For the campaign background to the Spring Big Game 2022, see HERE

For the Big Game set up, see HERE

It was quiet. Too quiet. As the day of battle dawned, there was surprisingly little activity in Leominster.

Staff Captain Maynard, C-in-C of the defending (indeed, encircled) Government forces had already made his dispositions. In the eastern suburbs of Leominster, the ever trusty "Wyrd Force" and a Platoon of newly recruited Telegraphists, supported by the Combined Public Schools Anti-Tank Battery. To the west of the town, Maynard's own forces, as supported by the Blackshorts of Eustace Spode, nephew of the 7th Earl of Sidcup, together with the available Anti Aircraft batteries. With everyone already 'at the front', the only Government forces left within central Leominster were some die hard BUF men, determined to defend their "Black House" to the last...

His only advantage, mused Maynard, was that the main Anglican field armies had been drawn off to their north, in the defence of Evesham, leaving only light screening forces upon their axis of advance towards Leominster. If Leominster was to fall (and even Maynard had to admit to that possibility), it would not be to the Anglican League.

Leominster Station at the top right. All buildings (mostly Supaquick card) and terrain
(save the Black House) by Roo.

The supersized bronze statue of Captain Arrowsmith, a notorious Hereford VBCW war criminal BUF hero deserter "departed warlord" stands proudly in Leominster Town Square. A "stay behind" party of
BUF desperadoes on top of the Black House; in front of the main door a dreadful warning to those
disloyal to the BUF. To the right, a curiously stationary truck with crane. For the "long read"
on Captain Arrowsmith's campaign history, see....

To the north of the Black House and Market Square,
the built up area of Central Leominster.

Leominster fortified against attack. Although not shown here, "cars on bricks"
featured heavily (for some reason).

All is quiet for the moment, with the BUF Special Train,
"The Black Arrow" slowly gathering steam...

With Leominster surrounded by enemies of the Government,
the swift moving "Black Arrow" offers the only opportunity for escape...
ON TO PART TWO....
