The start of another ordinary VBCW day at Mortimer's Cross, Herefordshire. Farmer Giles
(Giles, left/south) surveys his acreage as a multi-coloured variety of "commercial traffic" vans
and lorries rush hither and thither. The River Lugg flows gently in the eastern foreground, just
above Staff Captain Maynard's (Alan's) cup of tea and rulebook binder. A pensive
(and newly promoted) Colonel Comrade Professor Winters (Rob) patrols to the right/north,
judging the best axis of advance for the Communist Forces (entering from the top/west)

Some quiet diplomacy in the North. Farmer Giles is not part of this conversation.
He anxiously places his HQ Section (with 2 Medics) in his farmhouse, guarding
his stash of gold. A Fyffes "Banana Van" meanders along the road towards Shobdon,
passing some grazing cows in a field.
